Santa Visits the School!

New P.E. Equipment

The final tally after the sponsored walk was an amazing €1,400. This has enabled us to purchase new P.E. equipment as follows: a trestle table, two benches, a sports day kit, adjustable hurdles, a new set of hoops and skipping ropes, flying disks, soft balls, bean bags, flat hoops with stands and a ball pump.

New Music Equipment

We have also purchased some new instruments which include a percussion band set, a tambourine, chime bells, a xylophone, wrist bells and music stands. We thank the P.A. who plan to help with funding for same.

New Yard Games

Pupils got a lovely surprise recently when the P.A. kindly donated giant Connect 4, Giant Jenga and and a quoits game to the school. Huge thanks!

First Holy Communion

First Holy Communion will take place on Sunday 31st May 2015. A Communion meeting for parents in the three schools of the parish took place on Monday 17th November.

School Garden

Sincere thanks go to the parents who gave so generously of their time to lay the slabs around our garden beds. There was great excitement when the children saw the result and one junior pupil even commented that “it looks like a real garden now!” Thanks go to Andrew, Vincent and Mel.

Parents Association

Our wonderful Parents’ Association have been busy with the clothes recycling event and the bake sale. The recycling event was exceptionally well supported. Additionally, a most enjoyable morning was had in the school on Sunday 30th November when pupils, parents and members of the wider school community joined us to purchase some tasty bakes and enjoy a cup of tea. We thank all those who contributed baked goods, who bought items and who supported the raffle.

Scholastic Book Fair and Setanta Catalogue

We are delighted to announce that our Book Fair held in October earned €526 in credit, while the Setanta Christmas catalogue earned €307.60 in credit for the school. This credit will be used to further update our classroom libraries. Many thanks to the P.A. and to Breda McGuinness who organised these events.

Rosie’s Animal Magic

Much excitement ensued with the arrival of Rosie and her unusual animals on Thursday 20th October. Pupils learned about and were allowed to touch/ hold an array of animals including a lizard, a skunk, a rabbit and a snake. We even had a beautiful barn owl flying around the senior classroom! We thank our P.A. who so kindly funded this event.

play-02Pupils from third to sixth class will take part in the Parish Christmas Carol Service in Nicker Church on Thursday 18th December at 7.30pm. The three schools of the parish are preparing two hymns to sing together on the evening. Pupils are not required to wear school uniforms on the night and should be seated by 7.15pm. We are delighted to take part and it promises to be a most festive night on the eve of the Christmas holidays! There will be a practice for schools during the week of December 15th and I will provide parents with details of same as soon as I have them.

Mass on January 6th
