Clothes Recycling

Sincere thanks to all who supported our recent recycling event. €775 was raised for our school.

Successful Book Fair

Our book fair proved to be an exciting celebration of literacy in our school. €338.88 in Scholastic credit was earned for the school thanks to the generosity of parents in supporting the fair.

Sacraments

First Holy Communion will take place on Saturday 11th May 2019. We wish our four candidates, Emma, Andrea, Caoimhe and Denis, well in their preparations for both First Penance and First Holy Communion. We also send best wishes to our fifth and sixth class pupils, Anna, Saoirse, Donnagh, Caoimhe, Stephen and Jamie, as they prepare to celebrate Confirmation on Thursday 4th April in Nicker Church.

Liam McCarthy Cup

We welcomed Colin Ryan, Ger O’Connell and the Liam McCarthy Cup on Wednesday 10th October. Despite there being a big Tipp following (and even a Wexford supporter) amongst the jubilant Limerick supporters, the excitement was immense and the atmosphere was just lovely! Credit must be given to Colin who gave lots of time to all pupils when signing jerseys, etc. and taking photographs. As always, our pupils were respectful and mannerly whilst hosting the visitors.

High Vis

We ask that all pupils wear a high vis jacket to school each morning. Safety is our priority as pupils exit cars at the side of the road on these dark winter mornings.

School Uniform

Thanks to all parents for your support in maintaining high standards in relation to our school uniform requirements. Just a reminder that our school socks should be grey, whether worn under the skirt, trousers or tracksuit bottoms.

Science Blast

Well done to Mr Heffernan and the senior pupils who secured a prize of 500 euro to fund their Science Blast project and travel to the event, which will take place in May.

Tin Whistle

Senior pupils commenced music lessons with Mr. Denis Lynch on Tuesday last. We are incredibly lucky that Denis, with his wealth of musical talent and expertise, has been able to share his time with us. Pupils are reminded to have tin whistles at school each day and additional instruments, where applicable, as requested by Mr. Heffernan. Pupils are kindly requested to contribute two euro each per lesson as contribution towards this tuition.

Food Dudes

The Food Dudes programme began in our school on Friday last. Senior pupils will be provided with fruit and vegetable for eight days, whilst junior pupils will receive a selection of fruit and vegetables for sixteen days. Your encouragement of pupils is appreciated in this regard, as we aim to instil the importance of healthy eating from a young age. Parent information was distributed on Friday.

Science Week and Friendship/ Anti-Bullying Week

Both Science Week and Friendship Week commence today. Pupils in all classes will partake in a range of activities related to both topics during the course of the week. As part of our S.T.E.M. project (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths), pupils will host a Science Showcase on this Thursday 15th at 1pm. All families are invited to join us to view the scientific investigations completed during the week.

All visitors to the sale will be entered into a raffle for some festive treats. It promises to be scrumptious!

Christmas Show

Information regarding costume requirements is currently being distributed by teachers and we appreciate your assistance with same. A big thank you is extended to Fiona and Mike Fox who have again offered to make props for our show. This year, both rooms will jointly present “The Night before Christmas”, followed by a toe-tapping Christmas sing-along to get all visitors into the festive spirit! We also look forward to an instrumental performance by senior pupils. Our dress rehearsal will take place on Thursday 13th at 1.00pm, whilst the show followed by Christmas raffle will take place on Friday 14th December at 12.30pm. As each year, we welcome and sincerely appreciate donations of prizes for our raffle. I also wish to extend a word of gratitude to the teachers as the hunt for prizes commences!
