We wish a warm welcome to David, Gerard, Aishling, Lucy, Iestyn, Caoimhe and Edward to our school, and lovely to see everyone looking so refreshed and ready for learning! A big hello and welcome also to Mrs Barry, the new secretary.
School Garden
We are really looking forward to the school garden initiative and hope to assist with some of the expense. Anyone available on this Saturday 20th at 10.30, please bring a spade or trowel and any compost you can spare. Many thanks to Sally Anne and Fiona for sharing their expertise. The children’s enthusiasm for the project is infectious. See our School Garden page for some lovely photos.
Sponsored Walk
The Parents’ Association will be providing light refreshments after the Sponsored Walk on October 5th. We hope to see you all at the school after our exercise.
Book Fair
Our Book Fair takes place from October 15th to 22nd. The books are available for parents to view, order and purchase on Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st, from 2.15 to 3.15pm. A percentage of sales will be returned in credit to the school for further book purchases.
The Setanta Catalogue will also be available later in the year. Many thanks to Breda McGuinness for her experience and assistance to the PA in this. More details to follow later in the year.
Clothing Recycling
Our next Clothing Recycling takes place on November 27th. Please drop all unwanted clothing, household linen, shoes, bags and belts to the school before 3pm on that date. This proves a popular fundraiser which extends to the wider community, so please invite your families, friends and neighbours to donate any “clobber for cash”!
Cake Sale
The annual Cake Sale is planned for Sunday November 30th. Your contributions of baked items would be most welcome, as would your support on the day. This is always a lovely social event, with many visitors to the school participating.
Active Flag Programme
In line with the school’s participation in the Active Flag Programme, we hope to purchase a bicycle stand very soon. We also intend to purchase more outdoor games. We will update you as soon as the research has been done and decisions made. Any suggestions are always welcome! We are considering life size Jenga, Connect 4 or Chess. The teachers are also going to advise on some additional educational games for the classrooms, and we hope to assist with an activity-based excursion that is still under consideration at the moment.
Once again, many thanks for your support for all the PA projects during 2014 so far. We look forward to seeing you at one of our events over the coming months. Thank you to the teachers for their ideas and encouragement.
